Table Farm is a community food hub and living sanctuary in Hollywood Park, Sacramento. Under the umbrella of The Table United Methodist Church, I worked with a fabulous youth group to design and paint a mural on their garden shed inspired by Table Farm’s mission of “Rooted, Growing, Reaching.” The kids brainstormed about what Rooted, Growing, Reaching means to them and what imagery would illustrate that vision. Depicted in the mural is a seedling, a sun/sunflower, pollinators, worms, and cereal grains (as oatmeal, oddly, became a joke among us which drew us together as a team). The kids enjoyed a community paint day and now the garden shed brings their colorful message to Hollywood Park.
